Hi,

I am starting an Oracle to SQL Server migration project.
We use SQL Server 2005 Sp2 64bit on Windows 2003 X64.
Oracle 10 client has been installed.
I tried to install the SSMA tool on the server.
The installation of the SSMA for Oracle.3.1.992.msi ran fine, the
applictaion starts.
The installation of the SSMA for Oracle Extension Pack.3.1.992msi failes
silently when it shoud start connection to SQL Server (second phase). No
message in the application log...
So I do not have the sydb database in my SQL Server instance
I am installing as local admininstrator and I use named instances, the SQL
Server browser service is running.

Please help,

Werner Geuens

Aha! Solved...

It is possible to start the second phase of the installation procedure
manually.
Go to the folder "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant
for Oracle Extension Pack\bin" and start the executable SSMA Script
Installer.exe...
This executable will connect to your SQL Server and install all required
objects, including extended stored procedures. Just as if you where
continuing the normal installation procedure.
I hope that the time it took me to figure this out is longer than the time
it took you to find this post :-)

Greetz,

Werner
